Huskies reel in another 2011 commit

It's been a productive spring for the Husky football program. The coaches and players continue to work toward the spring game which takes place on Friday, April 30th. But on this Saturday afternoon after a brisk, two-hour workout, they got good news when Stanwood (Wa.) OL Dexter Charles decided to end the recruiting process and commit to Washington.

"I committed to the University of Washington," was the text Charles sent to shortly after he had committed.

The big lineman from the north part of the Puget Sound committed to Washington over offers from Washington State and Arizona.

"The coaches were all excited," Charles said as he drove back home from Montlake. "They were all chest bumping me and they were really happy and so am I."

Charles is a two-way player who projects as an offensive tackle or guard prospect at the next level.

"I'm just relieved to have it over," Charles said. "Now I can just focus on my senior season and not worry about recruiting."

Charles becomes the eighth commitment to Washington, joining Archbishop Murphy DL Taniela Tupou, Long Beach (Ca.) Poly CB Kameron Jackson, Walnut (Ca.) DL/TE Aubrey Coleman, Paramount (Ca.) OL/DL Maataua Brown, Norwalk (Ca.) FB Elijhaa Penny, Bishop Gorman (Nv.) S Evan Zeger and Central (Fresno, Ca.) RB Brendon Bigelow in the 2011 class.
