May visit to Montlake on tap for Bigelow

Central East (Fresno) RB Brendon Bigelow committed to the Huskies early in the recruiting process and since then, Washington fans have been on pins and needles every time he takes a trip to another school. Later this month, the talented runner will be in Seattle to meet with the coaches and to see the school he pledged to back in January…

"I had the SAT (Saturday) so I couldn't go to the spring game, but I wanted to make it," Bigelow told "It was a little disappointing, but I'll be up there in May on the 21st to sit down with the coaches and to see the school so I'm really looking forward to that."

Bigelow continues to sport four offers – Washington, California, Tennessee and USC – but maintains he's still solidly committed to the Dawgs.

"I'm solid," Bigelow said. "I'm still checking out some other schools, just to see what they have to offer, but Washington is the school that believed in me first and that means a lot to me.

"Once I get up there and see the school, that's when it sorta becomes real to me. I can meet the coaches in person and talk to them. I can also see the school and the campus and I heard Seattle is really close so I can see the city too."

Bigelow continues to rehab from the knee injury he suffered in the first round of last year's CIF playoffs and said he's ahead of schedule, but is still unable to compete in track.

"That's been real tough," Bigelow said. "Just going out watching my friend compete and knowing I could be out there is hard, but I'm not going to push things and re-injure myself."

Last week there were some reports that Bigelow took in the Nike Camp at USC wearing a purple shirt, but the talented runner said it had nothing to do with his commitment to the Huskies.

"It's one of my favorite shirts," Bigelow said with chuckle. "I just wore it because I like it. It didn't have anything to do with my commitment to Washington."

We'll check back in with Bigelow after his visit to Montlake later this month in order to get his thoughts and comments on things.
