Huskies hold steady at the top for Jones

Graham-Kapowsin (Wa.) WR Jamaal Jones continues to progress through the recruiting process and recently took a trip down to Eugene (Or.) to perform that the NIKE camp following Oregon's spring game and he came away feeling pretty good about things, including the school that continues to sit atop his wish list…

"When I was down there, Oregon told me they liked me and that I was at the top of their list for receivers," Jones told Dawgman.com. "I did really well at the NIKE camps, so that really helped me and gave me a lot of confidence. I didn't drop anything and I did really well in the one-on-ones."

While Jones thinks he could see an offer extended by the Ducks by the end of June he said there is a chance he could be making a decision before it comes.

"Washington is at the top of my list and I really feel like they are a program that I would like to be a part of," Jones said. "I mean, I'm still open to schools that want to recruit me right now, but after watching (Washington's) practices I saw how intense they practice and how much fun they have; I really like them a lot.

"I saw what it would be like if I went there and I know I'd have to come to play every day because of their intensity and how they go about their business."

In addition to his offer from Washington, Jones also has offers from Washington State and Idaho and while Oregon seems close, he's also hearing quite a bit from schools like California, Boise State and Oregon State as well.

This past season, Jones used his 4.43 speed and outstanding size to post 40 receptions for 600 yards and 11 touchdowns while leading the Eagles to the playoffs with a 6-5 record.

The talented wideout admits to not focusing on his receiving as hard as he should have previously, but said he plans to get started a lot earlier this year.

"Before, I would just start catching balls about a month before camp started, but now I'm already doing that and I'm going to keep doing it," Jones said. "My goal is for us to have a great season next year and I personally want to have a big season so it's all about preparation for me."

We'll have more in the coming weeks as Jones gets closer to making a decision and we'll update news as it happens.
