Trip to Montlake impresses Bigelow

It's been a long time coming, but over the weekend, Central High East (Fresno) RB Brendon Bigelow took his trip to visit Washington and he said he was 'really impressed' by what he saw. While on campus he met with the coaches and stood on the field where he will play his home games and he said he also got some of mom's 'home cookin' while he was in town...

"Oh man, it was really a great visit, a great time," Bigelow told Dawgman.com Monday evening. "I had been to Seattle before, but I had never really gotten to see much of the city itself.

"My mom drove me around and showed me different things. She was showing me how there are these boats called ferries and you can go on them. There is so much to do there. It was a great experience for me."

While the surrounding area impressed Bigelow, he said the highlight of his trip were his meetings with the coaches, especially his heart-to-hearts with running backs coach Joel Thomas and head coach Steve Sarkisian.

"Talking with coach Thomas was great because he'll be my position coach," Bigelow said. "He just told me what he expects from his guys and he said his expectations for me couldn't be higher.

"I had never met coach Sarkisian before so we got to bond a little and he talked about the program, the team and just where things are headed.

"That to me was the best part of the trip because these are the coaches I committed to and getting to know them was perfect."

This past trip was also Bigelow's first on an airplane, so he said that took some getting used to, but in the end it wasn't a big deal.

"Those machines, they are so powerful, it was pretty cool getting to sit there and see the city get smaller as you took off," Bigelow said. "I had been to Seattle before, but we always just drove. I had never flown so that was different, but something I enjoyed."

As far as where his commitment stands, he said he's 100% committed to the Huskies after the trip.

"I think this definitely sold me on things," Bigelow said. "I mean, you never know what will happen in the end, but I loved my trip and I think I will be happy there.

"My mom is up there so that's a definite plus and I had some of her cooking. I ate a lot while I was there. I loved everything about the visit -- the weather, the city, the school, all of it was really just perfect."

Bigelow, who is currently in the middle of spring practice with his high school team, said he'd like to come up once during the summer, but hasn't scheduled anything.

While he was on campus Bigelow and the coaches discussed what weekend he'd like to take his official visit and it sounds like Syracuse will probably be the weekend he makes it up.
