2012 Spotlight: Jeff Lindquist

Next year at this time, Mercer Island (Wa.) QB Jeff Lindquist could be one of the top quarterback prospects on the west coast. With his ideal size and arm-strength, the talented signal-caller already has several schools with their eyes on his talents and this summer he plans to hit the camp circuit in order to show that he can spin it with the best of them...

As a sophomore last fall, the talented signal-caller completed 122 or 228 attempts for 1,439 yards, 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, while rushing for 427 yards and 10 more scores.

Even with those so-so stats, Lindquist's size, athleticism and arm-strength have schools already drooling over what he can do under center.

"I've talked to Washington and Stanford a few times," Lindquist told Dawgman.com. "I've talked to UCLA a little and of course Oregon and Washington State have been by our school and I've talked to them a little and Nebraska too.

"I grew up watching Washington and they are a school I really like a lot. I've talked to coach (Jeff) Mills, coach (Doug) Nussmeier and coach (Steve) Sarkisian a few times. I went to a couple of their practices this past spring and got to talk with them a little bit while I was there."

No offers have been forth-coming for Lindquist at this point, but that might change in the next month or two since he plans to hit the camp circuit a little.

"I was at the Steve Clarkson Super Seven camp (last week) and it was a lot of fun," Lindquist said. "I think I did pretty well and I learned a lot, but I definitely could have done better. I just listened to what coaching I got and tried to work on things.

"I'm definitely going to Washington's 7-on-7 camp with the rest of my team and then we have our team camp at Whitworth. I think I'm going to go to the Stanford camp in late July, but I'm not sure yet and I already went to the NIKE camp there back in May."

Besides being a rising quarterback prospect, Lindquist also a basketball player and track participant for the Islanders.

"I run the 200, the 4 x 400, the 4 x 100 and the High Jump, but I'm not that great at that one right now," Lindquist said.

We'll continue to keep track of Lindquist as he continues to go through the very early part of the recruiting process and update news as it changes.
