Huskies pick up lucky #13

Over two weeks ago, Oak Grove (San Jose, Ca.) LB Scott Lawyer got an offer from Washington and shortly thereafter he decided he wanted to end the recruiting process and committed to the Dawgs. After he left the Husky Rising Stars camp, was able to catch up with him and he talked about his decision and his visit to Montlake...

As a junior in 2009, Lawyer had 90 tackles and eight sacks. He also caught 23 passes for 363 yards and one touchdown.

"I'm a fierce competitor, I'm fast and I'm agile," Lawyer told while at dinner with his family following Tuesday's workout at the Rising Stars camp. "This was my first chance to see the school, it was very nice, it reminded me a little bit of California, kinda like San Francisco."

During the May recruiting period, Lawyer saw interest coming from most of the Pac 10, including USC, UCLA, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State, but when the Huskies extended the first offer, he knew he wanted to end things pretty quickly.

"It was the right place and the right fit, I have family (in the Seattle area) so it will be really easy to adapt," Lawyer said. "(The Husky coaches) were very fired up, they were very excited to have me come down there."

Lawyer said he measured in at 6'2.5" and 195 pounds and reportedly ran a 4.63 forty. He said he's projected to play one of the two outside linebacker positions.
