Peters knows a lot about Husky program

A player just coming onto the recruiting radar relatively recently is McClymonds (Oakland) CB Marcus Peters. He's already got 10 offers to his name and three more schools could be offering soon. spoke to the talented corner recently and he updated us on things and when he plans to start setting up his official visits...

Peters played both ways for the Warriors last fall, starting at wide receiver and defensive back.

"I can play either one pretty well, but most schools are looking at me as a DB," Peters told recently. "Most say I have quick feet and good hips and I react to the ball well. I need to keep working at it, but I feel like I am getting things down on that side."

Recruiting went into high-gear in May when he hauled in nine offers including one from Washington.

"The Huskies, Washington State, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, San Jose State, San Diego State, Oregon, UNLV and Sac State all offered me within the past couple of months," Peters said. "Arizona State, UCLA and Oregon State all seem like they could be getting close, but they haven't offered me yet."

Husky running backs coach Joel Thomas is the man responsible for Peters' recruitment and the talented prospect said he knows quite a bit about the Washington football program.

"Coach Thomas and I spoke a few times during the spring," Peters said. "I know a lot about that program already because I had two guys who went here go up there (Willie Griffin and Allen Carroll). Both of them aren't there anymore, but they liked it up there a lot.

"I've never been to Seattle before and I don't have any family there, so I'm real interested in seeing them, but I will wait to take my official visits to decide if I will go up to visit.

"Right now with all of my offers, people ask me if I like this school the most or that school the most or if I have a leader. I just tell them 'everyone is in it' right now and then at the end of this month or before our first game (September 4th), I'll narrow things down to a top five and then I'll set up my visits."

Could Washington be one of those five visits?

We'll find out in a handful of weeks.
