Blackmon says Washington will get a visit

He's one of the most dynamic playmakers in the country with his blend of speed and shiftiness and Washington is squarely in the mix for Summit (Fontana, Ca.) WR Devon Blackmon. caught up with the elusive athlete recently and he talked about which four schools he knows will get a visit and when he might be in Seattle...

"Things are going good," Blackmon told "I haven't really been doing the recruiting thing lately, but I know it will pick up pretty soon.

"I haven't really talked to any coaches in a little while, but I need to start setting up my official visits, so that's what I'm going to have to figure out in the next month or so. I need to check my schedule for dates that I can make it out."

It is thought that Blackmon could eventually visit Washington the same weekend that they are playing Nebraska and when several top-rated recruits will be in the house, however he said that speculation is a little premature.

"I want to get up there for that game, but I need to figure out if I can make it or not," Blackmon said. "I'm going to talk to the coaches and see what the plan is."

Blackmon said he will definitely visit Alabama, Florida and Miami in addition to seeing Washington and said he's still trying to figure out who his fifth visit will be to.

"I want to visit those four and then I'm still thinking about the other one," Blackmon said. "I can make it out to some of the in-state schools without taking an official visit, so I will probably try and do that instead."

According to Blackmon, Washington and Alabama are the only two schools looking at him as a possibly 'Wildcat QB' in their systems and he's open to trying anything.

"It would be a lot of fun I think," Blackmon said. "I don't care how they do it, but I just want to get my hands on the ball as much as possible. I love making plays and helping my team."

As a junior last year, Blackmon made plays from several different positions hauling in 18 receptions for 296 yards and five touchdowns; rushing for 406 yards and five more scores on 46 carries and returning a kickoff for a 97-yard touchdown.

We'll check back in with Blackmon soon and update news as it happens regarding his recruitment.
