Shelton starts to form fall plans

Auburn (Wa.) DT Danny Shelton is a hot commodity in recruiting circles and now that his brother has returned from Iraq, he's getting ready to set up some official visits before he makes his decision. spoke to the talented two-way lineman recently and he updated us on things...

On Friday, Shelton's Auburn team defeated Kentridge 28-14 and while he felt he had a solid game, he thinks he can do better.

"We were working the kinks out definitely," Shelton said. "We have a talented team and I think we can get better as we go along."

Shelton's recruitment has been a steady diet of offers and interest from schools up and down the west coast and since his older brother just returned last week from a tour of duty in Iraq, the talented defensive line prospect wants him to be involved him helping him decide which school is the best fit for him.

"He's real special to me and he is someone whose opinion I trust," Shelton said. "I know I'm for sure visiting Oregon, Cal and Washington and I might visit UCLA and Hawaii, I'm not really sure on that yet.

"I got calls from a bunch of schools starting on September 1st and I talked to a bunch of the coaches.

"I'm still holding my decision until my brother and I can visit schools and then make an educated decision."

Shelton visited Washington during fall camp and said he plans to attend several of the Huskies' home games including this week's game against Syracuse.

"I'll be up for that, definitely," Shelton said. "They are a school I've always liked and I really like the coaches there a lot."

On Friday, Shelton and his Trojan teammates will take on Mount Rainier at home.
