Or at least "retired" rather than being let go. Rooney says he wants the team to shift back to its blue collar style of offense. I gotta say, I'm not sure that's a great idea and I have mixed feelings about this. First of all, I hated Arian's offense. Hated it. And while I entirely embrace the idea of getting back to "Steelers football" I can at least recognize that football, especially the NFL, is not what it used to be. It's a passing league. Period. Marino's record was shattered this season by more than one player! In addition to that you have, arguably, one of the Top 5 QBs in the league who, by the way, you're paying over $100M to throw the ball. They also have a good to great core of skill guys at wideout in Wallace, Brown, and Sanders. Not sure if going back to only throwing the ball 20 times a game is in their best interests.
I'd love to see some semblance of a rushing game like there used to be, some sort of toughness that used to be synonymous with the Steelers, and most of all a damn fullback on short yardage and goal line situations...but like I said, I'm not sure that's a good idea right now. If they really are serious about this then they're going to have to finally put an emphasis on finding an offensive line slightly better than pathetic (outside of Pouncey...and possibly Gilbert), first and foremost.
