Failure To Compete

WVU junior Kevin Jones pinpointed a disturbing factor as a cause for West Virginia's 71-66 loss to Pitt on Monday

As head coach Bob Huggins clearly stated, West Virginia was definitely outmanned during the second half of its 71-66 loss to Pitt. However, the Panthers had some help, according to Jones.

"We didn't compete as hard as we did in the first half," Jones said after the Mountaineers yielded 48 points and allowed the Panthers to score almost at will during the final 20 minutes. "We kind of relaxed and they kept on going after the ball. We competed somewhat, but we have to compete all the time."

In this post-game interview, Jones also identified Pitt's offensive rebounding and ability to drive the ball close to the basket as further keys to its win.
