Teaching Moments

While West Virginia installs a new offensive system from scratch during spring practice, a great deal of teaching is taking place on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Following the third day of spring drills, defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel explained that the focus is on tutoring the many youngsters and newcomers on defense in the basics of the system, rather than responding to what the new offense is doing. Just as Dana Holgorsen's charges are learning the foundations of his scheme, so too are the many players who will be vying for playing time on defense in 2011.

In this interview, Casteel discusses that teaching process and identifies a few of the players that are expected to step into leadership roles this year.
