Spring Showing

The running back spot on West Virginia's 2011 football team was wide open coming into the spring, but one player has made a strong claim for playing time one-third of the way through drills.

Daquan Hargrett, who was plagued with an ankle injury for part of last season, entered this spring ready to make his mark in Dana Holgorsen's offense, and so far the Florida native has been a standout in the backfield. Even in early, non-contact work, Hargrett's burst and explosion through the line was evident, and as work has progressed to sessions in pads, he has continued to run hard both inside and out.

Friday's practice session was no exception, as Hargrett ran low and strong, popping several big runs against a defense that struggled at times to keep pace.

In this interview, Hargrett discusses his readiness for this spring and the ways in which the offense fits his abilities.
