Step By Step

Defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel sees the beginnings of team play coming from the West Virginia defense, but as usual, the Paden City native is cautious in assessing the long-term prospects for his squad.

"We're taking baby steps with these guys," Jeff Casteel said as West Virginia opened the fourth week of spring practice. "we're getting better a little bit at a time. I've seen some good things today that we haven't done yet, so there's progress."

Casteel is encouraged by the play of the group as a whole, and is also pleased with the effort and attitude of his group overall.

In this wide-ranging interview, Casteel touches on the process of teaching the players who are working to fill the gaps left by departed seniors and identifies some of the former backups and newcomers who have played well through the first three weeks of drills.
