New Representation For Stewart

Multiple reports indicate West Virginia head football coach Bill Stewart is being represented by a new attorney in discussions with the University, including those that were held Friday morning.

As first reported by MetroNews and then confirmed by the Charleston Daily Mail , Stewart is now under the representation of J. Michael Benninger.

Benninger replaced Charleston lawyer David Hendrickson, who was Stewart's advisor when the coach and Mountaineer athletic director Oliver Luck signed a modified employment agreement for Stewart on Nov. 17, which ensured the coach's tenure would not extend beyond the 2011 season.'s attempts to reach Hendrickson for comment were unsuccessful Friday morning.

Benninger, a partner in the Morgantown law firm of Wilson, Frame, Benninger & Metheney, represented former WVU provost Gerald Lang in the suit Lang filed against the University after he resigned from his position in April 2008.

Lang resigned while embroiled in a scandal surrounding the wrongful awarding of a degree to Heather Bresch, the daughter of then-West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin III.
