WVU Takes Series With Win Over Johnnies

West Virginia took home a 2-1 series win after defeating St. John's by the score of 9-7 on Monday.

The Mountaineers captured the important third game on the strength of Jake Serfass' two run homer in the top of the seventh and a pair of runs in the ninth, courtesy of RBIs by Stan Posluszny and Grant Psomas.

WVU again showed their come from behind ability, as they rallied form a 5-4 deficit in the middle innings to secure the win.

Zac Cline pitched a marathon game to record his eighth win of the season. It was the sixth complete game of the campaign for Cline.

WVU moves to 12-3 in the conference with the win, and is 1/2 game behind second place Rutgers. The Mountaineers have some breathing room between themselves and fourth place, where Pitt has moved into a tie with Virginia Tech at 10-7.

The Mountaineers have a pair of non-conference games the next two days at Ohio and at home against Duquesne before travelling to Notre Dame next weekend for a three game showdown.
