Hoops Staff "Reorganized"

Moves that have long been rumored were finally confirmed by West Virginia's men's basketball program on Wednesday afternoon with the announcement Billy Hahn will now hold the title of "assistant to the head coach" and former director of basketball operations Jerrod Calhoun will take Hahn's spot on the Mountaineer coaching staff.

"At this juncture where the program is with nine new guys, we felt with my schedule and as much time I spend out of the office recruiting and with speaking engagements, that we needed someone who has sat in the head coaching chair, particularly with the amount of new guys we have," Huggins said in a statement released by WVU.

"Obviously, Billy's experience gives us that person to serve as my aide in administrative matters and with the overall day-to-day operations of Mountaineer basketball."

Hahn came to West Virginia with Huggins in 2007 and had served as a full-time assistant since. He was an assistant coach under Gary Williams at Maryland for 12 seasons and the head coach at La Salle for three years.

Calhoun has also been part of Huggins' Mountaineer staff since the head coach came to Morgantown, serving four seasons as director of basketball operations.

Previously, he was an assistant coach at Walsh College for three seasons -- the first of which was an NAIA national championship run in 2005. He was a student assistant under Huggins at Cincinnati in 2003-04.

"This change certainly opens up tremendous opportunities for Jerrod and one he will take full advantage of," Huggins said. "We look forward to his exuberance in terms of recruiting."
