Coordinator Cam Payne has confirmed that former Mountaineer basketball player Mike Gansey and footballer Reed Williams will be in attendance. So too will several members of West Virginia's Final Four basketball squad, as well as former NFLer Randy Moss.
"We're excited about the event because we are setting it up to allow ticket holders to mingle with everyone," Payne said. "We have a number of games set up where people can shoot basketball, play cornhole and get autographs. We have great entertainment with TaylorMade.
"We'll have a buffet-style dinner set up, but it's all going to be in an open room where everyone can meet and greet all of the former athletes."
Payne also confirmed details of the fundraiser.
"The proceeds will be split 50-50 between the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Fund and the Remember the Miners Scholars Program," he said. "And the great thing is that the money that goes to the Cancer Research Fund will get matched by another program."
The event will take place Friday, Sept. 2 at the Waterfront Place Hotel. Tickets are $100 each and tables are available for purchase at $1000. All tickets include the fish fry dinner, meet and greet with Mountaineer greats, access to a memorabilia sale and silent auction, live country music with TaylorMade, and commemorative memorabilia for the inaugural event. .
