Garrison Out

West Virginia University freshman running back Dustin Garrison was injured at today's practice and will miss the Discover Orange Bowl. He becomes the third player who will not play in the game due to injuries suffered in or after WVU's regualr season finale.

Garrison sprained the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee; he also has a slight medial collateral ligament sprain in the same knee. He will undergo surgery, and his recovery will require six months of rehabilitation.

WVU will also miss safety Terence Garvin and Josh Taylor. Both of those players sustained knee injuries and will also miss the contest. Garvin will likewise be out for an extended period, while Taylor's career at WVU is over.

WVU's leading rusher, Garrison, a Pearland, Texas, native, scored six touchdowns and earned 742 yards on 136 carries this season. Named to the all-Big East freshman team, he ranks sixth in the Big East in rushing (61.8).
