Replacement Plan

There may be a few tweaks to the West Virginia game plan in light of Dustin Garrison's absence, but the principals involved say wholesale changes aren't on the schedule.

Running backs coach Robert Gillespie admits that Dustin Garrison "does some thing better than the other guys", but maintains that the readiness plan instilled by coaches should have the backups ready to go. Andrew Buie, who may be in line for significant time, especially on speed-based plays, is taking that mantra to heart. And Shawne Alston, something of a forgotten man at times during his career, is again primed to have an impact in a role that no one foresaw for him coming in to the game -- if his injured leg allows.
