Directory Indicates Everhart Hired

Though West Virginia officials were not prepared to make any announcement as of Monday morning, the university's official directory gave the strongest indication yet that former Duquesne coach Ron Everhart may be about to join Bob Huggins' staff.

A search for Everhart's name in the public directory returned a single result: a profile created on May 10 for a Ronald C. Everhart. It lists his department as "Sports" and his title as "Assistant Coach."

WVU sports information director Bryan Messerly told The Daily Athenaeum the school was not prepared to make any announcements as of Monday morning.

A call made to Messerly for further comment was not immediately returned.

The spot on the Mountaineers' staff came open when Jerrod Calhoun accepted a position as head coach at Division II Fairmont (W.Va.) State in April.

Everhart spent six seasons as head coach at Duquesne before he was fired in late March. He compiled a 99-89 record during his time leading the Dukes.

A Fairmont, W.Va., native, Everhart and Huggins have had a long friendship. Everhart has appeared at multiple charity events sponsored by Huggins during the latter's time as head coach at West Virginia.
