Video: More Futbol, More Big 12

West Virginia's women's soccer team beat their football counterparts to the field by a day, opening practice on Aug. 1. Women's head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown detailed some of the challenges facing her team as it moves from the league it dominated to a bigger challenge in the Big 12.

The soccer team has less time to prepare than just about any other team-- its first game is just two weeks away against LaSalle on Aug. 17. The Mountaineers will also face Akron and Pitt in exhibition contests on Aug. 10 and 12, and will go through two-a-day practice sessions leading up to the season.

"Our focus is to build off each session throughout the preseason and get ready for our season opener in two weeks," Brown said. "The ladies are anxious to step on the field and compete as we begin a new era of competition in the Big 12 conference.
