Summer Camp Updates

Swingman Joe Posey (6-5 190) of Colonial Beach, Va. by way of Notre Dame Academy was at the adidas ABCD camp this week. Posey has reportedly been one of the top names on Coach John Beilein and staff's recruiting list.

"I did OK" said Joe Posey. ‘I didn't have the type of camp I ideally wanted. But I think I showed all the coaches I could handle, pass and rebound and have a good overall game. I think I can play the 1, 2 or 3 if given the chance."

Regarded as one of the best outside shooters in the Class of 2004, Posey has indeed shown a more well-rounded game than previously thought prior to this spring and summer. Posey averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 6 assists and 1 block per game last season at perennial power Notre Dame Academy.

Asked about his current recruiting status. Posey said "I'm wide-open right now. I have so many schools calling its hard to keep track. Georgia, Iowa State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Pitt and West Virginia are just some of the schools in contact. I don't really have a leader right now."

Posey was not in Morgantown this weekend. Instead the Richmond Squires sent their "B" squad to The HoopGroup Summer JamFest. However, Posey has a brother, Chris Johnson (6-10 190) who was scheduled to attend and play this weekend.

Camp Notes:

Might WVU get involved with lefty C.J. Anderson (6-6 205), a small forward from Cincinnati, OH, by way of Hargrave Military Academy? Anderson is a very good athlete who plays with great intensity and determination. Anderson averaged 19 points, 8 rebounds 2 steals, 6 assists and 2 blocks last season.

WVU had two primary recruiting targets finish in the top 5 overall player rankings at ABCD this week. Joakim Noah and Andre Blatche finished 1st (40.5 rating) and 5th (30.4), respectively.
