Juco Pledges to WVU

For the second consecutive season, West Virginia has reached into the junior college ranks for offensive line help.

Last year, it was Pennsylvania's Mark Glowinski who joined the Mountaineers from the junior college ranks. This year, Tyler Edwards of Blinn College has added his name to WVU's list - making him the 15th player on West Virginia's 2013 commit list.

Edwards, a native of Malvern, Ark., originally began as a Division II player, but then transferred after he found the lpower-division life at Arkansas Tech wasn't to his liking. After transferring to Blinn, he played both center and tackle, and at six feet, six inches and 295 pounds, has the versatility to play multiple positions on the offensive line.

Edwards is on track to get his degree in December, which would allow him to enroll in January at West Virginia and participate in practice. That will be crucial, because he has just two years left in which to complete his final two seasons of eligibility.

With West Virginia losing all three of its interior starting offensive linemen, playing time competition will be at a premium in the spring and fall of 2013. Edwards joins Tyler Tezeno and Marcell Lazard as committed recruits in this year's class.
