Jon Severe, who has offers from several Big East schools as well as Alabama and others, said he was offered when he took an official visit to West Virginia last Saturday.
"The trip was good," said the less than loquacious senior. "I got to talk with the coaches and see what the game was like."
Severe, a 6-2 guard with the ability to score in a number of different ways, recorded 26 points and 10 rebounds in a Friday night game just before his West Virginia visit to lock up the Brooklyn\Queens Class AA championship. His school, Christ the King, will begin play in the state playoffs next week. Intermixed with that, he's begun looking at recruiting, but doesn't have a date set for his decision.
"I think it will be soon, but I haven't started ranking schools or eliminated anyone yet," he added.
Severe also hasn't set any sort of criteria for making his selection. While getting on the court to play will be one factor in his choice, he said he is still working on how he will differentiate between the schools he is being recruited by. He had previously said that he would cut down his list after a mid-week visit to Alabama, but did not indicate that he had done so as of Wednesday night.
Severe was the MVP of the CHSAA AA league this year, and lead the league in scoring with a 23 points per game average. His primary recruiter is WVU assistant Larry Harrison.
