Over the last several weeks Detroit King (Mich.) athlete Avonte Maddox has witnessed his new offers and interest from schools pour in.
There is, however, a certain Big 12 school he's anticipating hearing more from.
"I like them (West Virginia)," he said. " They've been talking to my coach and they want me to come down to a camp this summer, and I will. I love to watch them every time they are on television. I just really like them a lot."
Maddox, who is being recruited by the Mountaineers as a cornerback, is also intrigued due to his favorite player, who lit up the field for WVU during his career.
"Well, they had my favorite player in Tavon Austin," Maddox said. I think it's just really cool to be on a team that he was on."
While Maddox has never visited West Virginia, he admits he's open to learning more about the Mountaineers.
"I'm kind of in the blind about WVU," Maddox said. "But I'm interested in going down there and seeing what it's like. I just want to view the place, and just see it."
If WVU were to offer the talented athlete they would shoot near the top of his list of suitors. However, he's not looking to make a commitment anytime soon.
"I'm just going to play it as it goes," he said. "I'm just going to wait and see."
