Detroit King (Mich.) cornerback Jalen Embry is becoming one of the most sought after prospects in the state of Michigan. With five current offers in hand, and increased interest from schools daily, Embry finds himself enjoying the recruiting process.
"Everything is going real good," Embry said. "I have five offers right now from Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Toldeo, Ball State and Western Michigan. But I'm talking to a lot of other schools, as well."
One school is particular, West Virginia, has been in touch lately.
"My coach keeps in touch with West Virginia, in terms of both me and Avonte (Maddox)," he said. "They want us to come down for their camp coming up soon and to get a little visit in.
Although Embry admits he doesn't know much about WVU in general, he does know all about a former play-maker for the Mountaineers.
"Oh, I know all about Tavon Austin," Embry exclaimed. "I know all about him and (former Mountaineer) Stedman Bailey. I'm wanting to go to school with Avonte so I hope with could be another great duo like those two."
Being an athlete on the field, Embry is being recruited at various positions by individual schools.
"Each school is different, but West Virginia is recruiting me on defense," Embry said. "They say my size is very good. I'm about 6-foot, 182 pounds. So that's a good size for a cornerback."
Embry believes his experience in the secondary and his skill set would be an asset to whichever program he may choose.
"I'm highly experienced I believe," Embry said. "I've been starting since I was a freshman in high school. I'm very physical on the line with the receivers plus I have good ball awareness. And when the ball is in the air I try and get it at its highest point."
If an offer from the Mountaineers were extended, Embry says they'd shoot near the top of his list.
"Honestly, they'd be near the top," Embry said. "So if that offer came they would be right up there."
