Summer Hoops

Nine anticipated members of West Virginia's 2013 basketball squad are scheduled to take to the court over the next four weeks in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Pro Am Summer League.

WVU's players will be split between the Oliverio's Peppers and The Lair squads. On the former, Kevin Noreen, Terry Henderson, Brandon Watkins, Nathan Adrian and Brett Morris will comprise half of the roster, while Eron Harris, Devin Williams, Elijah Macon and Chase Connor will compete on the latter. Richard Romeo, a walk-on from last year's squad, is also slated to play for The Lair.

In all, seven teams are scheduled to compete in the league, which consists largely of players from Pitt, Duquesne, Robert Morris and Youngstown State as well as WVU. Several players with local connections who played in professional leagues in Europe are also set to compete, as well as a smattering of players from other regional small colleges.

The league is an invitation-only affair, but is certified by the NCAA, meaning that participation does not jeopardize college eligibility. However, participation is limited to current college players, or incoming players who have enrolled at their respective colleges.

Oliverio's Peppers tips of the league at 7:00 p.m. this evening, followed by The Lair in a 9:00 p.m. game. Games are played on Mondays and Wednesdays through July 17, to be followed by a tournament running from July 22-24.
