Hoops Summer League Action

West Virginia participants in the Pittsburgh Pro Am Summer League tipped off with some strong performances on Monday at the Greentree Sporstplex.

Sophomore Terry Henderson played an excellent all around game in Oliverio Peppers' 76-72 loss to PGT. He hit 9 of his 14 shots from the field, including 3-4 from three-point range, and added nine rebounds. Both marks were the second highest on the team.

Incoming freshmen Brandon Watkins and Nathan Adrian also had solid showings against college competition. Watkins sprang for a double-double, recording 11 points and ten rebounds, while Adrian added 13 points and eight boards. Watkins, who was 4-11 from the field and 3-6 from the free throw line, also had two assists against one turnover. Adrian took eight shots from three-point range, making three while finishing 5-12 overall. He balanced two assists against two turnovers.

Eron Harris and Devin Williams were key players in The Lair's 87-86 win over GNC. Harris filled up the stat line, scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds. He was 6-11 from the field (2-6 from three) and made all four of his free throws. He had two assists against three turnovers.

Williams contributed an even eight points and eight rebounds on the strength of 4-10 shooting from the field. He had one assist while suffering three turnovers.


While on The Lair's roster, Elijah Macon likely will not play in the event, as he has just had the cast removed from his surgically repaired wrist.

WVU will have one team in action on Wednesday, as Oliverio's Peppers plays at 8:00 p.m. at Greentree.
