What to Like: Durante is an exceptional talent. Though a 2015 recruit just entering his junior year of high school, he held offers from West Virginia, Auburn, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. He has above-average speed and attacks the ball in mid-air. With decent height (6-1), he plays with an advantage over defenders.
An exceptional athlete, Durante was used in a variety of ways last season at Miami Jackson High School. He had 26 catches for 600 yards and 15 scores. In addition, he also accounted for 178 yards on the ground and added another score. He also picked off two passes while playing defense.
What to be concerned with: As excited as West Virginia fans should be gaining a commitment from such as talented 2015 recruit, they must also wait for his ability to sign with the Mountaineers. He needs to work on his route-running, which is crucial for an outside receiver. Though he has a frame to build on (6-1, 175 lbs.) he isn't the biggest of wide receivers. He needs to mold is body, which is expected over time.
Overall Analysis: This is a huge pickup for the Mountaineers. His skill set for a rising-junior is exceptional. With the spread offense being utilized by the Mountaineers you can never have too many weapons -- and Durante certainly fits the mold.
Kevin's Take: At this rate, WVU might be finished with its 2015 class before this year's group is signed. Well, not really, but this is the earliest we can remember WVU having two commitments in the fold before their junior seasons begin, and that can be a positive. While WVU msut be careful not to take any risks on rising juniors to avoid getting tied down late in the game, it will take all the players like Durante and Wolfley it can get, no matter the time frame.
