One Remains

One team with West Virginia players remained alive while another bowed out of the Pittsburgh ProAm Summer League on Monday evening.

Devin Williams helped lead The Lair to a 78-52 win over UPMC, while Oliverio's Peppers dropped a 76-67 decision to PGT in tournament play. The Lair will face South Hills Audi in the semifinals tonight.

Williams, according to stats provided by the event, scored 14 points on 6-12 shooting from the field. He was 2-4 from the free throw line and added four rebounds.

Teammate Richard Romeo made a pair of free throws and had a rebound, while Chase Connor also had a rebound in The Lair's winning effort.

The undermanned Peppers team, without Eron Harris due to his participation in the Four Nations Cup, still put up a representative effort. Terry Henderson led the Mountaineer participants with 19 points, including a sizzling 5-7 performance from three-point range. He also played a great floor game, dishing out seven assists and grabbing a rebound. He finished 7-10 overall from the field.

Brandon Watkins also jumped into the scoring effort, tallying 13 points on 6-13 shooting. He made one of his free throw tries and had two rebounds and an assist, according to the official statbook. Nathan Adrian was also solid across the board, adding eight points (3-9, 2-6) five rebounds and two assists for the Peppers.

The Lair squares off against P&W BMW at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Greentree Sportsplex.
