West Virginia has some prospects high on their board announcing their decisions soon, with a handful possibly committing this weekend. Using a star system, BlueGoldNews.com breaks down the likelihood each will commit to WVU.
The scale is based on one to five stars, with fives being the most likely the prospects will commit to the Mountaineers.
Anthony Clark - 5 stars: Clark has routinely acknowledged his love for the Mountaineers. He recently named a top three of West Virginia, Toledo and Kent State. The talented defensive linemen will be in attendance on Saturday, the same day he plans to announce.
"I'm committing on Saturday while at WVU," Clark said in a text message to BlueGoldNews.
Although Clark did not publicly say to which school he would commit, the timing of his announcement, which coincides with his visit to West Virginia, makes it likely that the Mountaineers will be his choice.
JaQuan Davidson - 3 stars: The Elizabeth (Pa.) athlete recently named a top five of West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Western Michigan, Temple and Connecticut. He also proclaimed the Mountaineers were his leader and planned to visit this weekend.
However, Davidson insists on taking additional visits before making a decision. Could this weekend be enough to sway a decision? It's definitely a situation to watch.
Devonte James - 4 stars: James recently trimmed his list to four schools -- West Virginia, Cincinnati, Purdue and Georgia Tech. With an announcement planned soon, James is hoping to see enough after this weekends visit to make a decision.
"I've got one last visit to West Virginia this weekend and then I'll know," James told FOXSportsNEXT recruiting analyst Dave Berk regarding his decision.
West Virginia defensive line coach Erik Slaughter has build a solid relationship with James, and that could be enough to earn a commitment this weekend.
Quantaye Battle - 2 stars: We place this commitment with lower likelihood only because of the uncertainty of Battle receiving an offer -- not because he isn't high on the Mountaineers. Battle has been a top performer at nearly every camp he's attended this summer, including at West Virginia in June.
In an offer were to come, Battle would most likely commit on the spot. After his solid performance in June, he was invited back down to showcase once again this weekend. Will an offer finally come? If so, expect Battle's name to be placed on the verbal list.
