Big 12 Preview: Week Thirteen

Four teams have open dates this week, but there are still two games with major standings implications as the regular season nears its conclusion.

MID-LEVEL FAIL

The Big 12 will put six teams in bowl games this year, but saw two others -- TCU and West Virginia -- lay eggs in their attempts to earn eligibility. The top of the league, though, still holds intrigue, as the final weeks of the season feature five games pitting the six bowl-eligible teams facing off against each other.

EARNED IT

Based on past and future opposition, Baylor has the toughest schedule among the six remaining FBS unbeaten teams. The rankings include Baylor (30), Alabama (51), Florida State (71), Ohio State (77), Fresno State (111) and Northern Illinois (125).

STREAKS

Baylor has won 13 bames in a row, while Oklahoma Stat has six consecutive victories. The opposite side of the coin is an ugly one, as Iowas State has lost seven in a row while bowl-eligibile Texas Tech as going down to defeat four consecutive times.

PICKS

  • Oklahoma needs a win over Kansas State to have a chance to move into the top three in the league. With quarterback issues, it figures to have a tough time getting out of Manhattan with a win. The Wildcats are the pick.

  • Kansas has a bit of life after embarrassing West Virginia last week. Iowa State's tough season might have taken its final toll on the Cyclones, so it's a second consecutive road pick this week for the Jayhawks.

  • Oklahoma State will be jacked up at home for Baylor, but can it match the Bears' scoring rate? Baylor makes it a sweep for road teams in Week 13.
