Over 30 offers for Washington

Robert Washington is one of the top 2016 prospects in the country. The Huntersville (N.C.) SouthLake Christian spoke with Scout.com about the latest developments in his recruitment.

Robert Washington has 31 scholarship offers.

Florida became the latest this afternoon.

"I just called coach (Will) Muschamp and he offered me," said the 5-foot-10, 205-pound Washington. "He told me that he had watched my film and that he thinks I'm a great player.

"He also said they run the same type of offense that we do at my high school, so I'd be a good fit for them."

Washington is happy about the offer.

"I'm just very thankful and it's a blessing," he said. "I'm excited. I told my dad and stepmom the good news.

"I'm definitely interested in them. It's a beautiful town and campus. I also have a connection with Will Grier because we used to go to the same school. It's also a great SEC program and I love their offense. I'm either going to visit this summer or for a game this fall."

His most recent visit was to West Virginia.

"It was my second time there," Washington said. "They were having a camp, but I just walked around and talked with (running backs) coach (Jajuan) Seider and (wide receivers) coach (Lonnie) Galloway.

"They both told me that they like me a lot. We talked about how comfortable I am with West Virginia and they told me I'd be a good fit there."

He also spoke with the Mountaineers' head coach.

"I got a chance to talk to coach (Dana) Holgorsen and he told me he liked me as a prospect and that I'd be a good fit in their offense.

"It was good to walk around and get comfortable with the coaches and see how they do their job. My favorite parts of the visit were getting to watch them and talking to coach Holgorsen."

He has no other college visits scheduled this summer.

Washington will narrow his list to 15 in August.
