Summer League Tip-Off

Six Mountaineers were in action during the first evening of competition in the 2014 Pittsburgh Pro-Am League.

If Brandon Watkins can produce for WVU as he did for Bakery Square, the Mountaineers will have yet another weapon to deploy inside. The rising sophomore scored a Mountaineer high 29 points (13-19 from the field) while adding three of four free throws. He also snared seven rebounds and dished out one assist for his team, which lost to South Hills Audi 101-84.

Devin Williams was also productive on the evening as he scored 21 while hauling down 10 rebounds in CRONS' 95-76 loss to UPMC. Williams was 10-21 from the field (including 1-7 from 3-point range) and dished out two assists against no turnovers. James Long, who sat out last year after transferring in to WVU, had seven points for UPMC on 3-8 shooting (1-3 from distance). He had one assist and one rebound.

Elijah Macon and Jevon Carter squared off against each other, and both produced as Carter's System One team knocked off GNC 85-80. Macon scored 14 points (4-11/2-2) and was 4-5 from the line. He grabbed four rebounds and suffered two turnovers. Carter made just three of his 12 attempts from the field, including 1-6 from 3-point range, but converted 8-10 from the line while grabbing two rebounds and dealing two assists against two turnovers.

Chase Connor contributed a three pointer, four rebounds and an assist in PGT's 110-87 win over Shale Attorney.
