Interest Rising For Phillips

Upper Marlboro (Md.) power forward Develle Phillips has witnessed his recruitment strengthen over the course of the past few months. The newest program to enter the mix is West Virginia, and a visit could soon be on the horizon.

Scout three-star power forward Develle Phillips is garnering more attention from schools along the recruiting trail. As he's earning increased interest from across the east, the latest program to enter the mix is West Virginia.

"I've been talking to the (WVU) coaches and we're going to arrange a time for me to come down," Phillips said. "I've been getting a lot of calls and mail from them. So my visit will likely be sometime in August."

Phillips (6-8, 210 lbs.), who boasts offers from South Florida, Xavier, Wichita State and West Virginia, is excited to see what the Mountaineers have to offer.

"I don't know a whole lot about them to be honest," Phillips stated. "That's what the visit is for because they tell me I can do well there. Plus, it's a big time school."

While his recruitment has certainly elevated over the last few months, Phillips remains steadfast about not rushing a decision. He hopes his visits will go a long way in making the right choice moving forward.

"I'm just taking things slow, trying to enjoy the process," Phillips outlined. "I don't have to be in a hurry. I want to see several schools and make the best decision."

This summer, Phillips is playing on the Under Armour Circuit with the D.C. Premier program, which has earned an 9-2 record.

"Things are going well for me and the team," Phillips said. "I want to get better as a player and use the summer as an opportunity to do that."
