Defensive Outlook: Gibson and Mitchell

West Virginia's defense returns 10 starters - coordinator Tony Gibson counts Jared Barber among them - and is primed for the pressure and expectations of such. Here, Gibson, along with cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell, preview the expectations and goals of the upcoming spring session.

Gibson, pleased with the defensive performance in stretches last season, talks about position changes, depth along the line, the coaching switches and bringing Bruce Tall on board and what he'd like to see better - besides consistent tackling - throughout spring.

Mitchell, who has very solid numbers and talent at his disposal, will be without Daryl Worley for the entire spring as the rising sophomore recovers from shoulder surgery with a return date of June. Still, Mitchell expects the entire unit to take the next step, an begin to play at an elite level within as pass-happy a conference as there is in the Big 12.
