WVU Player Drills From Camp Opening

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia began fall drills right where head coach Dana Holgorsen said they would - with a focus on ball security and strip drills on both sides. Here's a look at the defensive line, running backs and quarterbacks working those aspects and more.

First, the defensive line works collapsing the pocket, getting to the quarterback and stripping the ball, before securing it and getting downfield. Notice the attention to detail and focus on moving through the steps in order, and not trying to pick up the fumble before working to gain the strip initially.

Onto the quarterbacks now, as Michael Burchett heads this drill, which focuses on footwork, ball delivery, accuracy, and security and more. Check the shoulder and ball location, the latter of which should be high and tight. Notice also the footwork, and ability to move correctly in the pocket.

And finally, check the running backs, under the eye of JaJuan Seider, as they secure high and tight, shuffle through the bags and try - and fail early - to dodge the upright bag representing a tackle. Also note the serious, but sarcastic, comments from Seider on the opening day of camp.
