Holgorsen: WVU Depth Chart Fluid

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen met with the media this afternoon to discuss the progress of his team over the first few days of camp. No depth chart changes have taken place since the beginning of camp Sunday, but that will be a fluid situation as August progresses.

There has been some change thrust upon the West Virginia offensive line, as Russell Haughton-James' dismissal made it necessary for younger players to step up. Slated to start at the left tackle position is resdshirt freshman Yodny Cajuste, which has been a rarity on Holgorsen's teams in the past. Holgorsen said the coaching staff is trying to find ways to take the load off Cajuste in camp so he is as ready to go as possible for the regular season.

West Virginia's punt return game got plenty of bad publicity last season, and rightfully so. This camp, Holgorsen has stressed the importance of being solid in that area, and was on the field directing the punt returners during the first open practice Monday. He said five candidates have emerged to be WVU's No. 1 guy in the return game: Vernon Davis Jr., Lamar Parker, KJ Dillon, William Crest and Gary Jennings. According to Holgorsen, each of them is fielding around 35 punts per day. Below are more of the head coach's comments.
