West Virginia Mountaineers has received a commitment from Glendora (Calif.) long snapper Damon Johnson following his official visit over the weekend. He announced his commitment over social media.

“I’m blessed to announce that I have committed to West Virginia,” Johnson tweeted. He becomes the 20th member of the class of 2016 and is the second specialist in the class, along with North Carolina kicker Jonn Young.

Johnson had received interest from a variety of programs including Colorado, Colorado State, USC and UNLV. Johnson, 6-foot, 200-pounds, received an offer from the Mountaineers last August upon his initial visit – and quickly formed a bond with the coaching staff. Before heading west this past weekend, Johnson referenced getting to know more about the program.

“I’m looking forward to seeing WVU and everything they have to offer for me next year,” Johnson told BlueGoldNews.com last week, hinting of a possible commitment.

BlueGoldNews.com will have more from Johnson soon.
