West Virginia Head Coach Dana Holgorsen Describes Cactus Bowl Prep

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Back from a break following a disappointing loss to Kansas State in the regular season finale, West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen detailed the current status of the Mountaineers' preparations for Arizona State and the Cactus Bowl.

Holgorsen noted taht some of the fun of a bowl game is playing an unfamiliar opponent, and the Mountaineers will certainly get that in Arizona State. Each team has played Texas A&M within the past 12 months, but other that that the closest link of commonality comes in the form of Sun Devil head acoach Todd Graham, who was once a West Virginia assistant. Hoglorsen noted that he and WVU have crossed paths with Graham before, and that it should make for an interesting match-up.

Some of that will come in the game's opening series, when each team will put certainly looks on the field to see how the oppoinent responds. In that aspect, a bowl game depends a bit more upon on-the-fly adjustments, as opposed to conference games where systems and tactics are much more familiar.

Holgorsen also detailed the health of his team, and discussed at length the preparation schedule and whether or not WVU will practice at night, owing to the late start for the game.
