West Virginia Adds Iowa Graduate Maurice Fleming

West Virginia added another competitor to its defensive backfield for the 2016 season when Iowa's Maurice Fleming announced that he will play his final season of college eligibility for the Mountaineers.

Earlier this spring, West Virginia defensive coordinator Tony Gibson noted that the Mountaineers would entertain the possibility of adding to its defensive secondary roster prior to the 2016 season, and it did that on Thursday when Iowa cornerback Maurice Fleming announced via Twitter that he will be joining the program.

Fleming graduated from Iowa, and thus will be eligible immediately at WVU.

Fleming, a native of Chicago, redshirted during his initial season at Iowa in 2012, then moved into a backup role over the next three years. His most productive season was his most recent, 2015, when he totaled 17 tackles and five pass breakups. He was Iowa's fifth defensive back during his junior season, and also played on special teams, and he earned letters in all three of his on-field seasons in Iowa City.

Out of high school, Fleming had offers from Power Five schools Georgia Tech, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin
