The team is stockpiled with highly coveted prospects, starting with WVU QB target Tyler DeSue, who is in the class of 2018.
“The team we’re bringing to West Virginia will have Tahj Capehart, Khalan Laborn, Jamir Hudson , Tylan McElhenie , Teradja Mitchell …pretty much all of our skill athletes,” said DeSue. “I’m not sure, but I think a lot of our linemen will be attending the Big Man Camp that’s going on at the same time.”
Bishop Sullivan hopes to be part of a new Virginia Catholic League that will stretch from Virginia Beach to Northern Virginia.
“I haven’t seen our schedule for this year yet, but there has been talk of us playing teams like DeMatha and Good Counsel so our schedule should be a lot harder than it was last year,” the 6-foot, one-inch, 205-pound DeSue said.
DeSue, Capehart, Laborn and Mitchell all have scholarship offers from the Mountaineers, while Hudson and McElhenie hope to impress the WVU coaching staff and earn an offer during camp.
“I am really looking forward to the trip. I visited there a while ago and absolutely loved it,” said Hudson, who is being recruited by Logan Williams and Blue Adams. “They told me that they are really impressed with what they saw on film and can’t wait to see me perform at camp.”
McElhenie is equally psyched about the trip.
“I’m very excited to get to West Virginia. I've talked to the coaches and basically they said come to camp and ball out, which is what I plan to do,” said Hudson, who has plans to visit Rutgers, JMU, Princeton, Cornell, VMI and Virginia Tech. “I plan on camping for all of those schools. Also I've been in contact with Navy, Delaware State, and Army, and plan to visit Colombia.”
McElhennie has five offers. He plans to get to some satellite camps including Virginia Tech, JMU and Appalachian State, and also is set for a Delaware trip on June 12.
DeSue has had a busy summer, and there’s no break in sight. “Actually, I’m just leaving right now for the North Carolina State Camp on Saturday and the UNC camp on Sunday. On June 14 I’ll be going to Virginia Tech’s satellite camp at Kellam High School which is just down the road from us."
. He attended a Wake Forest camp on June 3.
“I’m not sure what the rest of my summer looks like. It depends on what Coach (Chris) Scott has in mind for us. I played at Ocean Lakes last year, but I’m transferring to Bishop Sullivan for my junior year. (The team) has only been together for four months now.”
Other members of the Bishop Sullivan Team expected to make the trip to West Virginia include:
- Tahj Capehart: One of the top WRs in the nation, ranked #2 in the East by Scout. He has been offered by numerous high-level schools, including Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame and many more. He is scheduled to release a Top 10 soon.
- Khalan Laborn: The #1 RB in Virginia according to Scout. He is a strong Florida State lean, but has also been offered by many Power Five conference schools.
- Teradja Mitchell: Generally regarded as the top LB in Virginia, and ranked #7 in the country by Scout. He has a Top 5 of Florida State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, LSU and Alabama.
