West Virginia 2017 Football Verbal Commitment Update - Playoff Special

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - Many of West Virginia's 2017 football verbal commitments were in action on Friday night. We recap their performances as they look to advance deeper into postseason play.


Defeated Dwyer 37-0 Record: 9-2 Next Game: Fri Nov 25 vs Mater Academy Charter (Playoffs)
Harley caught a 33-yard touchdown pass as Aquinas powered its way to the Region 4 District 7A finals.The loss was Dwyer's first of the year.

Defeated Harrison 23-7 Record: 11-1 Next Game: Fri Nov 25 vs Mays (Playoffs)
Tucker turned in another strong defensive performance in the Class 6A playoff win. The Tigers yielded just 158 yards of offense in the victory.


Defeated Jones County 56-26 Record: 11-1 Next Game: Fri Nov 25 vs Carrollton (Playoffs)
The offensive line continued to rumble in the Class 5A playoff game, as the Wolves rolled up 342 yards on the ground to advance. Seven rushing touchdowns were part of the win.


Defeated Sulphur 50-24 Record: 10-2 Next Game: Fri Nov 25 vs Parkway (Playoffs)
Bush, who has been outstanding in a dual-purpose role all year, had a 53-yard scoring catch to give the Charging Buccaneers an early 7-0 lead, then broke off a 44-yard touchdown run to help cement the win. He totaled nine carries for 115 yards and three receptions for 56. He had two receiving scores and one on the ground. Tevin Bush Interview

The Crusaders shut out the #2 ranked Ascenders for three quarters, and held them to just 39 total yards in the first half before yielding a pair of scores late.


Defeated Coatesville 42-25 Record: 13-0 Next Game: Fri Nov 25 vs Garnet Valley (Playoffs)
Johns was one of the standout on defense that held Coatesville to 13 points in the first three quarters, allowing the Knights to build a 45-13 lead.


Defeated Jersey Shore 42-32 Record: 11-1 Next Game: Sat Nov 26 vs Bethlehem Catholic (Playoffs)
Loe had eight catches for 155 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown reception. He also added one yard on a rushing attempt.


Defeated Bishop McCort 35-7 Record: 13-0 Next Game: Fri Nov 25 vs Dunmore
The Rams won their district title on the strength of Smith's five touchdowns. He was 21-26 passing for 292 yards, and fired touchdown strikes of nine and 18 yards. He added 31 yards on 15 carries, with three of those going for short TD runs of three, two and six yards. "I have confidence that my receivers will go up and make plays,” Smith told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "Winning this title is what we've been working for all season.'

Wolfley posted 95 rushing yards to help power a ground-based attack in the Class AAA win. Also, WVU preferred walk-on Ben Waibogha recovered a blocked field goal and raced 55-yards for a touchdown.


Lost to Spring Valley 55-7 Record: 7-5 Next Game: Season Complete
The Timberwolves overwhelmed the Black Eagle offense, allowing no time for pass plays to develop.
