West Virginia 2017 Football Verbal Commitment Update Nov 26

Thanksgiving weekend found a number of West Virginia's 2017 football verbal commitments still involved in playoff action.

Harley had an early 15-yard touchdown reception to help spur the win and put Aquins in the Class 7A semifinals

The Tigers came up with big stops late in the game to keep their playoff drive alive.

The Wolves' offensive line powered the way for 433 total yards, including 337 on the ground.


Routed Parkway 61-21 Record: 11-2 Next Game: Fri Dec 2 vs Destrehan (Playoffs)
Bush had a 53-yard touchdown reception to push the Charging Buccaneers to a 21-14 lead. He also came up big in the running game, scoring twice on carries of 52 and 44 yards while racking up 117 total on just six carries.

Defeated Garnet Valley 48-38 Record: 14-0 Next Game: Sat Dec 3 vs St. Joseph's Prep (Playoffs)
Johns came up huge in the aerial show, catching eight passes for 211 yards, including an 83-yard touchdown. He also added a 29-yard scoring run, part of a four-carry, 39-yard evening, to give the Knights breathing room late in the game.

Loe had one catch for 21 yards and was part of a deflected pass that went for a Greater Johnstown TD. The Trojans set a school record for wins.


Downed Dunmore 39-19 Record: 14-0 Next Game: Fri Dec. 2 vs Southern Columbia Area (Playoffs)
Smith continued his outstanding play with five touchdowns as the Rams advanced to the Class 2 A state semifinals. Smith was 23-42 for 199 yards, and connected on four for scores. Those covered six, seven, five and 35 yards. He also rushed for 69 yards on 17 carries, including a six-yard TD jaunt.

Defeated Bridgeport 22-21 (2 OT) Record: 10-2 Next Game: Fri Dec 2 vs Mingo Central (Playoffs)
Fairmont avenged a regular season defeat by the Indians by holding them to 199 yards or total offense. Stills was a force in that effort, as he was termed "unbolckable" by Birdgeport head coach Josh Nicewarner.
