Players of the Game - ECU

A pair of veterans keyed WVU's onslaught against East Carolina and earned our player of the game honors.

Quarterback Rasheed Marshall earned the offensive award by completing 11 of 18 passes for 197 yards and a career high four touchdowns. For good measure, the nimble junior rushed four times for 37 yards, and also placed a punt at the one yard line in the first quarter.

Marshall led the Mountaineers on seven touchdown drives in three quarters of play as WVU's offense displayed excellent balance. Most impressive were Marshall's two touchdown strikes to sophomore Chris Henry. Marshall left no doubt in anyone's mind who the number one signal caller is for the Mountaineers, and proved time and time again that ECU could not afford to stack the line to try and stop the Mountaineer ground game.

Adam Lehnortt
On defense, outside linebacker Adam Lehnortt spearheaded an effort that held East Carolina to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry and shut out the Pirates until a late meaningless touchdown.

Lehnortt picked off a second quarter pass and recovered a third quarter fumble to lead a defense that shut down the Pirate attack.

Lehnortt was credited with three tackles on the evening and also deflected a Pirate pass. Both of Lehnortt's take aways resulted in WVU touchdowns. The interception was the first, and the fumble recovery was the second, of Lehnortt's career.
