Tyrese Allen was clear on his choice of West Virginia when he announced his college commitment on Tuesday afternoon, and regional ties played a big part in his selection.
"There are people there that are from this area, and I just fell in love with it. When you go to a spring game and you see half the stadium covered with people you know there is something special going on."
Allen was recruited by defensive line coach Bruce Tall, which gave him a bit more insight into the situation he will be coming into in college. While most position coaches do get involved with the recruitment of their players at some point in the process, Tall was involved in it from the outset. Thus, Allen got an excellent look at everything he will encounter when he makes the jump from Paintsville High School to WVU next year.
"We talk almost daily. He sends me letters daily, and he is a really good guy," Allen said.
