Illinois wide receiver Mike O'Laughlin took advantage of a West Virginia offer and committed to the Mountaineers late Saturday evening.
O'Laughlin (6-5, 215 lbs.) is a tall wide receiver who uses his length well, but also has a good bit of athleticism to go with his reach and height advantage. A first team all-conference and all-state selection as a junior, he had 54 catches for 939 yards and eight scores. He was a big downfield weapon for Fenwick as a junior, but can line up either in the slot or outside, and runs multiple routes crisply. While Fenwick uses him as a wide receiver, he could also take on tight end roles at West Virginia, and line up in the slot and at wingback as well as being flanked out wide.
O'Laughlin is the third commitment in the West Virginia football recruiting class of 2018. He also had offers from Cincinnati and Wyoming, and interest from Iowa and Purdue, among several others.
