The latest in West Virginia football recruiting

The latest in WVU football recruiting.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day, took some time out to reflect, but to also enjoy some time with friends and family. I know I did (on both accounts), but I also caught up with a few recruits over the last couple of days to talk West Virginia. Here's the latest....

------- Bolivar (TN) Central quarterback Woodrow Lowe tells me that there are only three schools he knows he will visit in June - West Virginia, North Carolina, and UNC-Charlotte. He and his family are already working out the travel plans, and he tells me he should have a set date for those trips in the very near future, likely within the next few days. When he gets them set, he said he'd let me know.

------- Likewise, Roswell (GA) wide receiver Christian Ford tells me that he and his family are finalizing their travel plans for June. They're still putting the finishing touches on the exact dates for each stops, but he says there is a road trip in place to see West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Arkansas State, Mississippi State, and Wake Forest. He also wants to get out to see Colorado State.

------- Lorton (VA) South County wide receiver Dillon Spalding tells me that West Virginia's Tony Dews stopped by to see him last week. He says "they came to school and they watched me play lacrosse, also." He tells me that he is still very interested in WVU and that they could be part of his June visit plans, although he has not set anything up, yet.

------- Virginia Beach (VA) Princess Anne wide receiver Darryl Jones tells me that he also received a visit from West Virginia last week. "They got a lot of love for me," said Jones, and because of that, he intends to visit Morgantown sometime this summer to see what it's all about.

------- I noticed when I tweeted out my story about Wake Forest (NC) Heritage linebacker Drake Thomas and all his ties to WVU that Holly Springs (NC) athlete Bryce Wheaton kept favoriting and retweeting them. He tells me that is because he has been working to help connect the two - Thomas and WVU - for some time now.

"I knew (the offer for Thomas) was going to happen," said Wheaton. He's from Fairmont. I knew that for a while and he's been interested in WVU, so when I got offered, he texted me and said to put him on with WVU... I sent his film to them, but they were already watching him. They already had him on their radar."

One other quote from Wheaton - "It would be cool for us both to go there."
