WVU Confirms Lyles Injury

As reported by the Blue & Gold News in its print edition on Monday, Tim Lyles is expected to miss the entire basketball season, according to a release from the Mountaineer basketball office.

Lyles sustained a torn ACL in his left knee last week during a pickup game, and is expected to be out the entire season. Lyles will undergo surgery sometime within the next few weeks.

Lyles averaged 11.5 points and 5.5 assists per game while starting all 29 WVU contests in 2000-2001.

The loss further opens the point guard position to incoming freshman Jonathan Hargett, who will likely be backed up by sophomore Jay Hewitt. Basketball practice begins October 13.
